Welcome to the Road Runner Newsletter for June 2003
New nycap.rr.com focuses on Help and Services
The new www.nycap.rr.com is a local service of Road Runner and Time Warner Cable.
You can get help via an online chat service, send email, see our phone number and help yourself in a number of ways with our helpful links.
We also list our services, such as wireless networking for your home, gaming, links to broadband websites, dial access, Road Runner Messenger and more.
There's current news from Capital News 9 and a monthly contest just for Road Runner customers.
New, lower price for wireless networking
The price for Wireless Road Runner just became more appealing. It's still just $10 per month to have multiple computers in your home connected to and sharing one Road Runner connection, but now the setup fee, which covers the cost of the wireless card that you keep, is $39.95 per computer. And did you know that adding a Wireless Road Runner option protects your entire network? The wireless modem comes with a Firewall built right in. Wireless Road Runner ... it's silly not to connect.
Going away on vacation? Stay connected with Road Runner
With summer vacations on the horizon, we want to remind you that you can access your Road Runner email via http://webmail.nycap.rr.com/. You'll need your user name and password to log on. You can also connect with our Dial Access service, which provides access to the Internet via a standard 56K modem connection when you travel outside of your Road Runner service area. With this service, you will have access to your Road Runner email and the Internet. All you will need is a modem, a standard telephone line, and a computer that meets the minimum system requirements required for this service. For more information, go to http://help.rr.com/getpage.asp?/asp/dial_access_help_topic.asp. For your convenience, links to these services are always available at http://www.nycap.rr.com.

Tech Tip: Finding your IP address
An IP address is a unique number assigned to each computer on the internet. Like snowflakes, no two IPs are supposed to be the same. Knowing your IP can be useful when you want someone to connect to your PC.
For more information, go to http://www.nycap.rr.com/techtips/index.php?ID=27.
Security: Beware the 'Teddy Bear' hoax
Our Road Runner professionals have a new tool to keep you informed. It's the Security section of www.nycap.rr.com, where you can learn the latest about viruses, trojans, worms, hoaxes, spam and more.
The Jdbgmgr.exe file hoax, also known as Teddy Bear, tries to encourage you to delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. Go to http://www.nycap.rr.com/security/detail.php?ID=30 to see the sample email versions and what to do and what not to do.
'Sex and the City' premieres June 22
Sex, Love and Heartache. That's right, Carrie and the girls are back for another fling in the highly anticipated sixth season. Tune in for the season premiere, Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. For more on the show, go to http://www.hbo.com/city/.
